Tourism and economic development are important for us and for our region, but it also has an impact on the environment. So we have our responsibilities towards environmental integrity and social justice, for both visitors and residents. Therefore we constantly try to reduce our ecological footprint, by running our business with as little unnecessary environmental impact as possible, and improve it where we can. Because quality tourism can only be accomplished by practicing sustainable tourism, for now and in the future.
Accommodations :
- We reduce our energy costs as much as possible, by using only modern and certified energy-efficient devices for electricity and heating.
- We offer multiple waste containers at each accommodation, so our guests can separate recyclable waste as bottles and cans from their common household waste directly during their stay.
- Greater environmental savings are achieved by encouraging guests to stay longer instead of filling accommodation with new guests every day. It results in fewer transports per guest night and requires less cleaning, waste and laundry. So during most of our season we require a minimum stay of 1 week, to minimize transport to and from the destination for both our guests and our staff. Arrivals and departures are most often on the same days, and within a specific time window, so we can take care of maintenance, cleaning, washing and waste collection in the most efficient way, to minimize fuel-, waste- and energy costs, and so to reduce emissions.
Rental boats and guiding boats :
- For the longer trips, all our boats are equipped now with modern 4 stroke fuel engines, with the lowest CO2 emission possible.
- All our boats are equipped with electrical engines too, which can be used for shorter trips instead of using the fuel engines.
Sportfishing, guiding and competition fishing :
- We practice and recommend catch & release fishing.
- We comply and adapt to the guidelines for sustainable sport- and competition fishing as stated by several Swedish organisations- and authorities.
Food and drinks :
- We aim to work with local and regional fresh products as much as possible.
Investments, replacements, maintenance and cooperation :
- For maintenance and renewals/replacements regarding our accommodations, boats and other products/equipment, as well as for the periods when we need extra housing and services, we prefer to work and cooperate with local partners only. That way we not only contribute to local and regional economics, but also to a better environment, simply because the shorter the journey the less emission.
To our guests :
What visitors do at destinations has an effect on the environment. Also different activities have different levels of impact, and the same activity can be more or less sustainable depending on how it is done. We work to ensure that practical arrangements and educated people are in place, to motivate and enable visitors to be good guests, and inform them about what they can do to minimise the environmental impact of their stay.
